Rolling Shutter Reloaded
With the industrial rolling shutter SB, Hörmann offers the market's first rolling shutter with spring compensation
Hörmann is expanding its rolling shutter range by a new design for industrial applications and offers a counter-balanced variation. According to information by the manufacturer, the industrial rolling shutter SB is the only one of its kind available on the market with a heavy-duty tension spring mechanism. The counterbalance allows the use of more cost-effective operators and even manual operation.
Similar to sectional doors, tension springs counterbalance the weight of the door curtain and transfer their power via cables and cable drums to the barrel. This enables easy-to-move operations with a hand chain, which constitutes a practical and very economic solution, especially for infrequently used doors. It can be equipped with a large number of Hörmann curtains – customers have a choice of the single-skinned HR 120 A and HR 120 aero curtains, the polyurethane-foamed profiles Decotherm A and Decotherm S and the rolling grille HG-L. Hörmann offers the industrial rolling shutter SB up to a width of 5,000 and a height of 4,500 millimetres.
Thanks to the counterbalance, the doors do not have to rely on powerful direct drive operators, but can be operated with the also newly introduced industrial door operator WA 300 R. It starts and stops gently, allowing the door to travel quietly and smoothly. This increases the service life of the door. At the same time, it does not require a roll-up safety device as the operator switches off automatically by force limitation in case of increased opening force, for example if someone holds on to the door curtain.
Last, but not least, the new industrial rolling shutter SB offers many advantages when it comes to fitting, allowing it to be fitted by a two-man team in less than two hours. The compact, completely newly developed aluminium frame with integrated brush seal is delivered as a unit ready for fitting. The door only needs to be aligned and fastened.
